The HANA Jacket No. 4 mixes shades of earthy tones like Terracotta, Honey and Tan.

Each square has been carefully cut and sewn to make these beautiful patchwork panels, which are then quilt-stitched to the cotton padding. The collar, sleeves, and outside pockets are all made in accent colors which brings the whole color palette together. The collar is wide enough to stand up on its own or it can be folded down. The jacket is fully lined complete with two huge inside pockets. And the organic cotton wadding is warm and lightweight and will soften with wear.

The patchwork panels are made of fabric scraps resulting from making clothes. Since the beginning of Yuki.Buttons, not a single piece of scrap has been thrown to the landfill because, although linen and cotton are naturally biodegradable, they don't do well in the landfill mixed with plastics and polyester. I usually sell them in bundles for other makers to use. For these jackets, I've been able to use some of those scraps which means that these jackets are also helping me keep a zero-waste business.

Customizations

Due to the long process of making these jackets and the limited amount of scraps available, these jackets are already made and don't allow for any customizations to be made.

Materials

Outer layer: The panels are made of the scraps that I've collected while making clothes. Hence, they are a mix of all the natural fiber fabrics I use that include 100% linen, 55% linen 45% cotton, and 100% cotton.

Collar, sleeves and pockets: 100% linen

Filling: 100% organic cotton wadding

Lining: 100% cotton or 100% linen. I use fabric samples and remnants for the lining so it will depend on what's available at the moment. But it will always compliment the outer piece.

Care

• Spot clean or dry clean.
• If necessary, machine wash at low to medium heat (40ºC / 104F) with like colors, gentle cycle and let dry on a rack.
• Do not bleach.

None of the fabrics are pre-washed. Linen and cotton have a shrinkage of 7%-10% when washed for the first time, annd it will give the jacket a crinkle look, which is also lovely.
