Meet the Maker

Hi! My name is Yuki and I’m the woman behind Yuki.Buttons. 

My passion for clothes started when I was 5 years old. My parents met a woman at a local fair and instantly became friends. As it turns out, she was a professional seamstress and had a full home sewing studio. She worked for other labels and taught me everything there is to know about sewing, from threading a needle to finishing a piece - instilling in me the values of patience, discipline, and appreciation for the things well done.

Some fun facts about me:

1. I'm Japanese, but I was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain. Thanks to that, I speak 4 languages fluently: English, Spanish, Catalan, and Japanese. If you check our thank you cards, they say “thank you” in these four languages: Thank you so much, Muchas gracias, Moltes gràcies, and Arigatou gozaimasu!
2. My husband and I moved to California in 2018. Although we miss our family and friends back home, we are having the best time exploring this side of the planet. 
3. Besides fashion, I’m deeply committed to doing whatever I can to preserve our planet.  By offering an alternative clothing option - one that is more sustainable and ethically made, is my way of doing more for the planet. The world can be discouraging sometimes, but I believe that "every little act counts." 
4. My other obsession is food. Good seasonal ingredients and home-cooked and delicious food would be my favorite kind.
